"I wanted to thank both of you for a fantastic week in the Alps. Every time I complete one of these trips I come away thinking 'that’s the best one yet', but in reality they are all fantastic. The Alps week was particularly special though - and one that will remain with me for the rest of my days"
(Southern Alps rider; 2014)
Alpe d'Huez, Col du Galibier, Col d' Izoard; all names for cyclists to conjure with - and these are just a small selection of the fabulous climbs that feature on our 'conquest' of the Southern Alps.
Starting out from the shores of the sparkling Mediterranean Sea in Nice, we plot a four-day route north over some of the great Alpine climbs towards Bourg d'Oisans. We will tackle the highest paved road in France (Cime de la Bonette; 2802m) along the way en route to our final twin challenges on Riding Days 5/6.
On Riding Day 5 there is the opportunity to tackle the course of the famous La Marmotte cyclosportive (170km with over 5000m of elevation gain) and we top off the trip with a final ascent of Alpe d'Huez on the morning of Riding Day 6.
Riders will fly into Nice and depart by either rail or air from Grenoble, Lyon or Geneva. Transfer from Alpe d'Huez to Grenoble or Lyon is included within the trip price; a supplement will apply if transfer to Geneva is required.
