"I've done a lot of European riding in recent years and your Stelvio-based tour is right up there with the very best of them. The service, support and hotels were all first class - and it is a really nice touch that you both make the time to ride with the group."
(Northern Italy tour rider; 2016)
If the mighty Passo di Stelvio and a memorable selection of other grand Italian climbs are on your personal 'hit list', then this is the trip for you.
On five thoughtfully designed rides (plus a 'Riders' Choice' / rest day) you'll tackle several of the Giro d'Italia's greatest summits, see some of the most spectacular scenery in Europe and enjoy the gourmet-standard Italian cuisine offered by hotels which are amongst the most cyclist-friendly in the world.
In addition to Passo di Stelvio itself, our rides will include ascents of the legendary Mortirolo (Passo di Foppa), the breathtaking Passo di Gavia and other notable gems such as the Torre di Faele and Passo di Foscagno.
The centrepiece ride of the trip will be the opportunity to climb Stelvio from all three 'sides' of the pass in a single day. Starting successively from Bormio, Prato di Stelvio and Santa Maria (Switzerland) the challenge is to climb & descend 4750m in just 125km of riding. As with all of the rides on this tour, a support vehicle will accompany the ride throughout and either single or double-ascent options will be available in addition to the triple.
Most riders will elect to fly in & out of Milan, Malpensa airport and our trip logistics (we spend 5 of the 7 nights at the same hotel) are designed to minimise bus transfers between locations and to give riders the chance to properly unpack and relax between rides. Bormio is a charming mountain resort town and our hotel has both a fantastic chef and exemplary accommodation/facilities.
